Welcome to Scarborough Choral Society

Founded in 1912, Scarborough Choral Society is a friendly, amateur choir based in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. We perform a wide variety of choral works and hold two major concerts each year.

Our rich history began under the name Scarborough Musical Society, founded by the dynamic Arthur Claude Keeton. Despite nearly folding in 1959, we were revitalized under Matthew England’s leadership in 1965, when we adopted our current name.

Today, under the direction of PR Dewhurst, we continue to perform choral classics, from Bach and Haydn to Mozart and Vaughan Williams. In 2012, we proudly premiered Musicks Empire, composed by Richard Shephard for our centenary.
